Collect files from many people

Use a writable folder as a shared destination for a class or team.

Help

A teacher can collect assignments, or a team can gather files, while senders connect independently. The server accepts supported uploads without you approving each one.

Set up a collection folder

  1. Create a dedicated writable folder for this session, with enough free space.
  2. Start its server and test an upload from another device using a WebDAV client.
  3. Share the address and required WebDAV login with the group.
  4. Ask each sender to open that folder in a writable WebDAV connection and upload using a unique filename, such as a name plus assignment title.
  5. Check the uploaded files after the session and stop the server when collection is over.

People can upload at different times or concurrently while the phone is reachable. Zwind’s browser directory listing is not a submission form; senders need a client that can write via WebDAV. Start with a small trial group to check the network and storage.

Access and overwrite boundaries

A common data folder is not a private inbox for each sender. People who share its access may be able to see, modify, or delete each other’s files, depending on the storage and client. Do not use this workflow where private submissions or individual permissions are required. Duplicate filenames may be overwritten.

If the destination is connected storage, writes go there when supported. See Send files to your phone and Connected storage to confirm where the files will land.
