Access and write to connected storage
Access connected storage from other devices through Zwind, and understand where uploaded files are saved.
Zwind can serve configured Quark Drive and SMB storage, as well as local folders. Other devices connect to your phone’s WebDAV address; the app talks to the configured storage behind it.
Read files through the phone
- Configure and sign in to the storage source in Zwind. Check that its folders open in the app first.
- Start that server and copy its address from Home.
- On another reachable device, connect in a browser, file manager, or WebDAV player.
- Browse the shared storage folder and open or download a file.
The phone needs access to both the client device and the upstream storage. Network speed, provider rules, account validity, and rate limits can affect browsing and playback.
Write to the right location
Connect using a client that supports uploads, open the intended remote folder, and try a small file. Writes go to the selected storage provider when the backing adapter and permissions support that operation. They are not automatically saved as a second copy on your phone.
Not every visible folder is writable. Projected RSS, Web Media, Emby, and other virtual listings can expose readable content without accepting uploads. A shared collection root is also different from a real destination folder. If the server rejects a write, choose a known writable folder and inspect the provider’s permissions.
Which credentials should recipients use?
Give them the WebDAV account for this server, when anonymous access is off. Keep your Quark cookie, SMB account, and other upstream credentials in Zwind. These are separate from the login used by external WebDAV clients.
The server address belongs to the phone. It stops working when the server is stopped, the phone is unreachable, or the underlying storage session expires. For troubleshooting, see Connection troubleshooting.
